The location & position of a project is always the basic set of input when design decisions are being made.  This particular site is several acres located several miles from any municipality and features a new pond, pastured grass with wooded areas…surrounded by other agricultural properties as far as the eye can see.  The setting feels like a characteristic Mississippi farm, which seems appropriate for a historic small farmer’s cottage… one of which (Sedgewood Farm) sits within a mile of this site built in 1840’s.  This typology of small Greek Revival with undercut gallery was a typical aesthetic and academic style choice across Mississippi in particular during the development decades of the 1800's.  The detached garage is meant to resemble a small sharecropper’s cabin.
